Kings Mountain man wins a million off Powerball ticket

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — It’s safe to say that plenty of us would be OK with missing out on the big Powerball jackpot if we still won a million dollars.

That was the case for Toney Peavey of Kings Mountain. The North Carolina Education Lottery says Peavey won a $1 million prize in this past Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

Peavey got his ticket from a Circle K on Cleveland Avenue in Kings Mountain, and he matched all five white balls during the drawing.

After taxes, he ended up taking home $712,501.

This coming Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is a little over $300 million.
