CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — An inmate who was reported missing from his work-release assignment on Feb. 3 in Caldwell County was captured one week later in Pennsylvania, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Kevin Adams, 47, vanished on Cranberry Road in Lenoir when he walked away from his job assignment.

Pennsylvania authorities followed up on a tip and found Adams in Bedford, which is located in central Pennsylvania.

Adams was in the Caldwell Correctional Center serving a nearly four-year sentence for obtaining property under false pretense.

He’s been in prison since August 2019 and was scheduled to be released in March 2021.
