Local baker supports mothers experiencing child loss

CHARLOTTE — Losing a child makes daily life hard, but it can make Mother’s Day even harder.

A local baker is making the holiday easier by making sweet treats and providing support to mothers experiencing child loss across Mecklenburg, Union, and Cabarrus counties.

Creator of Cupcakes with Compassion and owner of Sweet Pavilion, Vanessa Sencherey, knows the feeling of loss all too well; she lost her son five years ago.

“On the first Mother’s Day after losing him, I remember a friend, a family friend from back home, texted Happy Mother’s Day, and I was so angry,” Sencherey said. “I didn’t feel like a mother, even though some people said I was. I didn’t feel like a mother.”

Mothers can be nominated for Cupcakes with Compassion at this link.
