Local chef named semifinalist for prestigious James Beard award

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Chef Greg Collier has racked up his third consecutive James Beard nomination.

Collier — behind acclaimed modern juke joint Leah & Louise — is the only Queen City-based nominee. He’s among 20 semifinalists vying for the Best Chef in the Southeast award. Half are from the Carolinas.

“It’s always an honor to be mentioned with some of the best chefs in the South, but getting three straight noms is a special honor,” Collier says.
