CHARLOTTE — A man accused of randomly attacking a woman in Dilworth was charged Friday following his release from a medical facility, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police charged Di-Quan Schafar Hunt with assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident.
He was arrested eight days ago but was taken to a facility for mental evaluation.
According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Hunt has been transferred to their facility. He has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, one count of misdemeanor breaking and entering, and two counts of injury to real property.
The assault occurred on the morning of Aug. 6 on East Boulevard near Euclid Avenue. Investigators said the woman appeared to have been knocked unconscious during the attack and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a court affidavit, the victim suffered a concussion, a cut to the head requiring staples, a brain bleed, and future doctor visits. Police saw the videos posted to his Instagram account, which has now been taken down, of the attack.
The victim’s family said she is OK.
During the investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police discovered multiple videos posted on an Instagram account appearing to belong to Hunt. The social media page contained footage depicting the Aug. 6 attack along with other incidents that showed women being chased.
He was given no bond due to new requirements under Iryna’s Law. The magistrate noted a previous conviction of a violent crime and three convictions in the last 10 years.
Hunt’s next court date is Monday morning.

Since the start of 2025, Hunt has been arrested at least five other times. Most recently, in December 2025, he pleaded guilty to threatening a man with a knife. As part of a plea agreement, he received credit for time served.
Hunt was also charged with breaking into a storage unit on South Boulevard and damaging it. We are asking for more information on that incident.
