Man awaiting trial in Charlotte riot murder pleads not guilty to looting charges

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man accused of murder in the midst of the 2016 Charlotte protests pleaded not guilty to looting charges Tuesday morning in court.

Rayquan Borum is accused of shooting and killing Justin Carr outside the Omni Hotel in uptown in September of 2016.

Last year, Borum rejected a second-degree murder plea deal even though he has admitted to firing the gun.

His murder trial is set for December.
