WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Basketball legend and Bobcats owner Michael Jordan appears ready to get married again.
The former NBA star appeared at the main Palm Beach County courthouse Thursday morning to apply for a marriage license, according to Kathy Burstein, a spokeswoman for the Clerk's Office. Applicants must apply in person and a license is good for 60 days.
The identity of the bride-to-be was not immediately announced.
Jordan, 50, got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, in December 2011.
It would be the second marriage for No. 23. He married Juanita Vanoy in September 1989, and they divorced in 2006.
They have two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Marcus James, and a daughter, Jasmine.
This comes a week after news broke of an Atlanta woman who filed a lawsuit saying the NBA Hall of Famer is the father of her teenage son. The lawsuit was filed Feb. 6 by Pamela Smith in Fulton County Superior Court.
On Monday, Jordan asked a Georgia court on Monday to dismiss a paternity suit against him, calling it a "shameless, bad faith attempt to abuse the legal system."
Jordan recently purchased a $2.8 million house on Lake Norman. The Jordan Family Gift Trust purchased the 12,310 square-foot home on the seventh hole of the Peninsula Club in Cornelius.
The home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and garage space for five cars.
The house was previously owned by NHRA Top Fuel drag racer Doug Herbert who told Channel 9, " It's a great house and a great neighborhood. I hope Michael gets to enjoy it as much as I did over the years."
Herbert moved after his two sons were killed in a car accident nearby.
