GASTONIA, N.C. — The North Carolina Dental Society Foundation’s Missions of Mercy program is providing free dental care to more than 600 adults on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 at City Church in Gastonia.
The two-day clinic offers no-cost treatment for patients who have delayed dental care due to cost, lack of insurance, or limited access. Volunteer dental professionals will offer exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and partials.
The Pastor of City Church told Channel 9’s Ken Lemon that it is important because people are dealing with high prices and hard decisions.
“Because they have to choose between, am I going to put gas in my car, I’m going to have to feed my kids,” Pastor Dickie Spargo said, “I don’t have money to take care of my teeth.”
The free clinic is open to adults ages 18 and older on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 6:00 a.m. each day at City Church, located at 3100 City Church St. in Gastonia.
Because Missions of Mercy clinics are held periodically, organizers emphasized that community awareness is critical. For residents who have put off treatment, the event offers a chance to resolve long-standing dental problems.
Coming up tonight at 5 p.m., more on the difference a clinic like this can make in someone’s life.
