Another home shot into in Villa Heights neighborhood, police say

CHARLOTTE — Just days after Channel 9 reported on several shootings into homes and cars in Charlotte’s Villa Heights neighborhood, police were called to investigate another shooting into a home in the area.

At about 2 a.m. Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were called to Allen Street, near Villa Heights Elementary School. Police said they were responding to reports of a shooting into a home that had people inside.

Police said when they arrived, they found several spent shell casings and a home that someone had fired a gun into.

A Channel 9 crew could see emergency responders in front of the house and investigators looking at the casings on the ground in front. A neighbor said she had heard several shots fired.

Police said nobody was hurt in the incident and they did not yet have a suspect. Channel 9 has asked CMPD if Thursday’s shooting was related to those we reported earlier this week.

On Monday, a neighbor told Channel 9′s John Paul that he had witnessed three shootings in two weeks. Four houses and two cars had been hit by gunfire.

“Then after [Sunday] night, it’s, like, alright, we got to vacate the area,” Daniel said. “It’s not safe.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
