CHARLOTTE — More than 200 Black men took control of their health during Black Men’s Wellness Day at The Park Expo and Conference Center.
Novant Health and Atrium Health gave free physicals and screenings, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
Channel 9’s Damany Lewis was co-emcee with radio personality Olympia D.
Organizers said the expo is about encouraging men to get regular checkups.
“It’s important to get ahead of it. Preventative medicine reduces the cost of healthcare,” an attendee said. “So if you go to your community screenings, we’re here every year. This can be your annual checkup.”
A total of 239 people were screened at Saturday’s health expo.
