More than 5,400 quarantined in Union County public schools; 367 positive for COVID-19

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — The Union County Public Schools district reported Friday that 5,410 students and staff members are quarantined after 367 people tested positive, data indicated from district officials.

Quarantined

  • Elementary schools: 2,063 students; 82 staff
  • Middle schools: 1,481 students; 49 staff
  • High schools: 1,664 students; 50 staff
  • Central office: 0 students; 21 staff

Total positive

  • Elementary schools: 113 students; 14 staff
  • Middle schools: 91 students; 6 staff
  • High schools: 133 students; 5 staff
  • Central office: 0 students; 5 staff

The district is calculating how many students and staff have been affected.
