MORGANTON, N.C. — Morganton police arrested Darius King after a man was found dead inside his apartment Sunday night.
Officers said they found Hubert Roland Hunter, Jr., 57, dead inside his Valdese Avenue apartment at about 6:50 p.m. Sunday.
King admitted to beating Hunter to death.
Police were asked to check on him by one of Hunter's fellow church members who was concerned Hunter did not show up for church.
Neighbors described hearing an argument coming from Hunter's apartment earlier Sunday morning.
