MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — A mother of four has died following a head-on collision on July 19 along Stevens Mill Road in Stallings.
Three weeks after the crash, Shannon Oxendine’s family is expressing frustration over a lack of answers, as no charges have been filed.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. when the vehicle Oxendine was riding in with her boyfriend was struck head-on. Four people were transported to the hospital, and Oxendine died several days later.
The Stallings Police Department has been investigating the collision, but officers have not released findings on fault or potential charges.
A small memorial has been placed along the roadside at the crash site in memory of Oxendine. Speaking publicly without showing her face, Oxendine’s mother described her daughter’s devotion to those around her.

“She loved people, she loved her kids tremendously, she loved her family tremendously,” Oxendine’s mother said.
She expressed growing anxiety over the three-week investigation, adding, “We’re concerned, very concerned why nothing has been done yet.”
While law enforcement officers have not officially named a driver at fault or identified the cause of the collision, Oxendine’s family believes speed and alcohol were major factors.
Family members claimed the other vehicle was traveling at least 70 mph at the time of the impact. Oxendine’s mother shared her feelings regarding the severity of the crash.
“That’s not just manslaughter, that’s murder. Am I wrong? I don’t know? Is that how I feel? Yes, yes, I do,” she said.
The loss has taken a heavy emotional toll on the family, particularly Oxendine’s daughter as she returned to school.
“She has a 15-year-old daughter who started school yesterday and had three panic attacks because of a simple thing on a piece of paper: who to contact,” Oxendine’s mother said.
As the family waits for police to complete their work, Oxendine’s mother emphasized her desire for legal accountability.
“I just want justice done. It’s not going to bring my daughter back, but they shouldn’t be able to go into a hospital room and have conversations with people when we can’t; we have to go to a gravesite,” she said.
Stallings police officers have not confirmed whether alcohol was involved or who was at fault in the crash.
Inquiries sent to the Stallings Police Department regarding the status of the case have not yet received a response.
