CHARLOTTE — The inner loop of I-485 is back open, but Monday afternoon it was part of a scene that we’re still asking questions about.
Law enforcement was focused on one thing: a car stuck up an embankment above the interstate.
At some point in the crash, a road sign was heavily damaged.
MEDIC says one person died and another was hurt in the crash, but Channel 9 is asking for more about what exactly caused it.
We reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and state troopers for more information.
CMPD got got back to us and said this was Highway Patrol’s investigation.
We’re still waiting for state troopers to give us more on what happened.
Traffic was backed up for hours as part of this.
One person who didn’t want to go on camera walked up and told us he believes this involved multiple cars.
This is a developing story. Check back with wsoctv.com for updates.
