Piedmont Natural Gas is on scene evaluating the situation. Crew members are working to determine the depth and size of the damaged underground line before repairs can begin.
Charlotte Fire is monitoring the scene as a precautionary measure. Nearby residents and businesses may notice the odor of natural gas in the area while response operations continue.
