CHARLOTTE — Starting Oct. 1, the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles will move to an all-electronic registration system, effectively eliminating the requirement for license plate stickers and printed registration cards.
The change comes after a new state law passed earlier this year.
NCDMV says police already check registration electronically, and the change will save money and reduce fraud.
Drivers can still request a printed registration card. You can print the free PDF from the DMV’s website or have a copy printed and mailed for $5.
