New restaurant coming to South End’s Atherton Mill

CHARLOTTE — A new bar and restaurant coming to Atherton Mill this summer will mark a homecoming of sorts for its proprietor. Neel Gandhi, whose Big Ben Pub was a longtime staple at the South End complex before closing in early 2021, is bringing a new concept to the same spot, Axios Charlotte reports.

After its lease at Atherton Mill was not renewed, British pub Big Ben found a new home in the Elizabeth neighborhood, where it opened in July of last year. Its former spot was taken over by Bocado Bar + Diner, an acclaimed restaurant concept out of Atlanta that made its Charlotte debut last summer — and then closed less than a year later.

The space is in a section of the complex near the intersection of Tremont Avenue and South Boulevard.
