New state law shifts control over York County road repair funds to new committee

YORK COUNTY, N.C. — A new committee will now decide how millions of dollars meant for road repairs will be spent.

The York County Council used to decide how to spend those tax dollars; now a new state law requires a stand-alone county transportation committee to do so.

The current plan is for the new nine-member committee to have four state-house appointed members, four state senate appointed members, and a board chair.
