NY developer bullish on Charlotte as it gears up for next NoDa project

CHARLOTTE — New York-based Avery Hall will break ground on its next Charlotte project by year-end. The Brooklyn real estate developer, in partnership with Declaration Partners, is planning a 420,000-square-foot mixed-use development at 300 E. 36th St.

Tarlton Long, principal and director of Avery Hall Southeast, said the project will include a 294-unit apartment building with podium parking and 6,800 square feet of ground-floor retail.

The apartments will range from studio to three bedrooms with several duplex-style units that Long said were inspired by Brooklyn brownstones.

“I think it’s a great location not only for retail in the neighborhood, in general, but it’s also a great opportunity for an exceptional restaurant or café with outdoor seating,” Long said. “A big part of what we’re trying to do in Charlotte is bring that thoughtful urban development here that stands out in the market.”
