Officials investigating south Charlotte fire that was intentionally set

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Fire Department is investigating a south Charlotte apartment fire that was intentionally set.

The fire took place just after midnight on Beacon Ridge Road at an apartment complex. It is unknown what all was damaged. A Channel 9 crew at the scene could not see damage from outside the complex.

Officials said the fire was controlled in 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.

Charlotte Fire said Sunday morning one person was displaced and the Red Cross is assisting. The estimated loss is $7,000.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The fire is still under investigation and Charlotte Fire asks that anyone with information to call crime stoppers at 704-334-1600.
