The call came in at 6:10 a.m. The man was pronounced dead on scene by Medic.

The victim has been identified as Robert Norman Craddock Jr., 49.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the shooting was not a random act of violence. Police said it appears Craddock Jr. and another family member were involved in an argument that led to the shooting.

Family members were taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.

CMPD said the case will be reviewed by the District Attorney's Office to determine if charges will be filed.

"Very tragic, especially this time of year,” said Rico Wylie, resident. “This time of season when we're really supposed to be loving each other and bonding as family.

Rico Wylie lives nearby. He said he's done construction work in the complex, and even considered moving there because it was nice.

"Quiet-type apartments,” he said. “Neighbors seem to be nice and caring.”
