1 in custody after argument leads shooting at Catawba Dollar General, police say

CATAWBA, N.C. — A man was arrested after a shooting that began as an argument happened at a Dollar General store, the Catawba Police Department confirmed Saturday night.

The department sent Channel 9 a news release that said sheriff’s deputies were called at 12:47 p.m. for reports of a shooting at a Dollar General store.

When officers and deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man who had been shot several times. Police said he was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

Catawba police arrested and charged Dimario Juwughn Coulter in the incident. Investigators said they believe the shooting happened when an argument in the parking lot turned violent.

The Catawba Police Department is still investigating.
