One person killed in collision in Caldwell County, troopers say

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — One person has died following a collision in Caldwell County, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said at approximately 11:30 p.m., they responded to Union Grove Road near Parkwood Road.

At the scene, they learned that a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 was traveling west on Union Grove Road, lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Colorado.

Troopers said the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, later identified as 67-year-old Johnny Cleveland Davis, died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet S-10 received non-life-threatening injuries, according to highway patrol.

Troopers said an initial investigation does not indicate impairment as a contributing faction, however, the investigation is ongoing.
