CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jonathan Cohen has spent the last several years building his development company, J. Forrest Development, in Connecticut. He started his own business after leaving Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, but grew frustrated by the Connecticut real estate market in recent years.
Cohen had friends who relocated to Charlotte over the years and spoke fondly of the market. Now, J. Forrest Development is starting its first Charlotte project: a 221-unit apartment complex on Gloryland Avenue known as The Oliver at Tom Hunter. That 7-acre site is off North Tryon Street, near the Interstate 85 connector.
