Panthers host Texans Friday for final preseason game; starters sit out

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales

CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers will host the Houston Texans at 7 p.m. Friday at Bank of America Stadium for their final preseason game of the year. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed earlier this week that the team’s starters will not play in the matchup.

The contest follows a rough joint practice between the Panthers and Texans. Carolina quarterback Bryce Young and the offensive unit struggled during the workout, with Young getting sacked at least six times.

Despite the difficult practice, Young said the offensive group remains unified and focused on growth.

“Our whole unit, whoever is out there, there’s no one out there, I would want to be with so it sucks to have a day where you don’t feel like you produced very well, but it’s a great learning opportunity that’s what these training camp practices are for,” Young said.

Channel 9 will air live coverage featuring player interviews and postgame analysis immediately following Friday night’s game.
