CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Troopers are investigating after one person was killed in a crash in Chester County Thursday night.
The wreck happened just before 8 p.m. on Interstate 77 northbound near exit 55.
Troopers said a driver of a Ford sideswiped a tractor-trailer, crossed the median, and then crashed head-on into another tractor-trailer.
The passenger inside the Ford was killed.
Rescue crews had to cut the driver out and that person was flown to a hospital in Columbia.
Later, as crews were cleaning up the crash, a car slammed into the back of another truck and was pinned beneath it, troopers said. A man and a 90-year-old woman were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital.
No names have been released and troopers have not said if any charges will be filed.
