ROCK HILL, S.C. — A woman was arrested Saturday for a shooting at the end of May that killed one man and hurt another in York County, police said.
Derrisha Lamontica Meeks, 23, is facing charges for murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The shooting happened just before 4:30 a.m. on May 31 on Carolina Avenue Extension in Rock Hill.
Police said they were called to the scene after getting reports of shots being fired in the area. When they arrived, officers found 33-year-old James Mobley near the road with several gunshot wounds.
Mobley was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he died days later from his injuries.
During the investigation, officers were told a silver sedan left the area. Police were able to find the vehicle and another 33-year-old man, who had been shot in the arm, was inside.
The second victim was transported to the hospital, but he is expected to be OK.
Officials said they found Meeks on Green Street Saturday and when they tried to arrest her, she resisted. Once they finally took her into custody, she was also charged with resisting arrest.
Authorities have not said what led to the shooting.
