Police investigating homicide in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Detectives at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide at a southside apartment complex Monday morning.

Channel 9 saw CMPD set up a crime scene at a complex off Archdale Drive, just east of Interstate 77, around 6:30 a.m.

Christopher Saneth Rosa Castellanos, 25, was killed, and a witness said it stemmed from a fight.

“They fight again,” said the witness, who didn’t want to be identified. “As they fight again, he just pulls a gun out and he just started shooting. He shot like eight times. Then he turned around and he just took off down the hill.”

She said it happened outside her apartment where her family is staying while visiting from Georgia.

“Me and my kids seen everything,” she said. “It was to the point that he was so close that we seen the fire coming from the gun.”

Police continued to investigate for over four hours after the shooting.

“We would ask that anyone who saw anything, anybody who has camera footage, anything that may help the case reach out to Crime Stoppers,” said Maj. Ryan Kendall.
