CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Police are searching for a suspect they said cut off his electronic monitoring device for the second time.
Officers said Tomonta Simmons was in a Charlotte courtroom Wednesday morning on charges stemming from the first time he cut off his device.
Police said he cut off the monitor during a court lunch break.
"We would rather he stay in jail, but a judge set a bond. He was able to make that bond and so he was back out free in the community," said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Sgt. Dave Scheppegrel.
Police said Simmons cut off his monitor near Sugar Creek Road and Interstate 85.
