CHARLOTTE — A young girl was transported to a hospital by ambulance after being injured in a crash. Police are searching for a driver who allegedly left the scene of the crash.
Security camera footage captured a gray Mercedes-Benz driving through the intersection seconds before the collision occurred.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom captured multiple law enforcement officers surrounding the scene as neighbors rushed to assist the child.
Emergency responders placed the girl on a stretcher before placing her inside an ambulance.

A teenage neighborhood resident who witnessed the aftermath described seeing law enforcement arrive at the scene.
“So I saw a ton of police officers surrounding the area where the girl was,” the witness said.
He noted that the victim appeared unresponsive when emergency crews moved her.
“She wasn’t moving at all; I’m pretty sure she was unconscious when they put her on the stretcher,” he said. “I saw her getting put on a stretcher and they put her inside the ambulance.”
Community members reacted quickly following the collision to try to help the young victim.
The witness described the emotional toll on the girl’s family members who gathered at the scene.
“Everybody was in shock. I saw the family; the little brother was just crying so much, and that just broke me. That was just sad to watch, so I cried too,” he said.
The exact age of the victim has not been confirmed by officials, though neighbors noted she may be an elementary school student.
The witness recalled having seen the girl in the neighborhood previously.
“I’ve seen her walk around before, but I don’t know her like that,” he said.
