CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A family needs help trying to find the person who killed their daughter, who was a counselor in a Charlotte school.
Police say in December 2007, someone shot and killed Kellie Owens in her north Charlotte condo while her 2-year-old daughter was in the next room, unharmed.
On Thursday, at the scene of the crime, her family and police asked the public for help getting new leads in the murder investigation.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's public information officer, Rob Tufano, said any information could help.
"Even if you think it's just a small little detail that doesn't matter, they'd be surprised about what does matter," he said.
Owen's mother, Linda, said she believes justice will be served.
"My faith is not wavering at all," she said. "The person will be caught."
Police and Crime Stoppers teamed up for a reward in the case. They are offering $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in Owen's murder.
