GASTONIA, N.C. — Two professional leagues want to bring baseball back to CaroMont Health Park after the Ghost Peppers announced they would be ceasing operations.

The minor league team cited financial challenges as the reason for the move.

The Atlantic League told the Gaston Gazette it has multiple options but wants to keep a team in Gastonia for the 2027 schedule.

The National Association of Professional Baseball says they will take a close look at CaroMont Health Park if the city reopens the lease.

According the city, the park was meant to be an anchor for redevelopment downtown.

The City of Gastonia is in the middle of a fight to get land back around the stadium from the former owner of the Honey Hunters baseball team. The Atlantic League kicked the Honey Hunters out in 2023 over unpaid debts.
