GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Protesters gathered Monday outside the Gaston County Courthouse demanding a Confederate statue, which has been there since 1912, be moved or destroyed.
In the video at the top of this webpage, hear why protesters are taking a stand against a county commissioner and a cartoon he posted to social media.
“I was completely appalled,” said Jamal Gillespie, with the Gaston County Freedom Fighters. “I was shocked, honestly, to see that it was posted on his commissioner’s page.”
