School report cards are in, and for the second year in a row, Anson County Schools has stayed off the low-performing district list.
It says eight out of nine schools met or exceeded growth, and Anson Middle School moved from an “F” to a “D” rating, adding that proficiency increased in every grade and subject.
Two other schools are also no longer low-performing schools.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the results.
In Union County: The school district continues to lead the state in overall student proficiency.
Union County Public Schools has the highest ranking in the state, with 73.7% of students proficient in earning a 3, 4 or 5 on EOG and EOC exams.
The state average is 59.2%.
Another highlight: Union County was able to remove two schools from the state’s low-performing list.
East Elementary and Monroe High made significant academic gains.
Now, only five schools remain low-performing. Last week, the district told Channel 9 the goal is to get that number to zero.
