Reports: 10 more women report Charlotte doctor for sexual assault

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Eyewitness News has learned that 10 more women have reported to police that a Charlotte doctor sexually assaulted them in his office.

The new allegations come almost two weeks after police arrested Dr. Mario Hernandez, 58, on charges that he sexually assaulted three women in his clinic on Arrowood Road.

All of three alleged victims are Hispanic, but two of the 10 who have filed reports with police since then are African-American.

Police are still investigating the new claims and have not filed any additional charges.

Hernandez’s office was closed Thursday and Eyewitness News has learned that he has entered into a non-practice agreement with the North Carolina Medical Board.

The agreement said Hernandez denies the charges and allegations but it does not prevent the Medical Board from pursuing its own investigation.

Hernandez is free on bond and Eyewitness News was not able to reach his attorney Thursday for comment.
