Rock Hill Police investigate deadly shooting at apartments

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday at an apartment complex. An 18-year-old man died from his injuries following an altercation that led to gunfire in the 1100 block of Springdale Road.

Officers responded to reports of several gunshots at 10:41 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival at the apartments, police found the victim on the ground near the mailboxes with multiple gunshot wounds.

The 18-year-old was transported to Piedmont Medical Center. He was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Shortly after officers arrived at the scene, police were notified that a 20-year-old man had arrived at a different area hospital with a gunshot wound. Detectives confirmed that both men were involved in the Springdale Road incident.

Investigators determined that the two men had an interaction that led to the gunfire. Detectives are working to establish the specific details that culminated in the shooting.
