ROCK HILL, S.C. — Two teenagers are facing charges for their roles in a deadly shooting in Rock Hill.

It happened early Friday morning along East Main Street and came just three days after a young man and child were killed in a separate shooting.

Both cases have one thing in common: teenagers were involved.

A parking deck on Elizabeth Lane was the scene of the most recent bloodshed.

“I’ve been in Rock Hill all my life and this here is senseless,” said Barbara Sanders, a resident.

Police say that 19-year-old Za’vean Heath and a 16-year-old girl tried to rob a 15-year-old in the deck. The younger teen opened fire and killed Heath. On Tuesday police say there was a shootout on Frank Street between 19-year-old Jamareon Kimble and 34-year-old Cedric Creighton. Kimble and his four-year-old brother were shot and killed.

“Our community is dealing with it right now. We’re going through it. It’s a very tough time, a very difficult time on a lot of families,” said York County Councilman William Bump Roddey. “The saddening part is our kids are not getting a chance to grow up and experience life.”

Roddey says that times like these should send a message that it’s time for parents to step up.

“Talk to your kids and help them understand what life is all about,” said Roddey. “That you love them, that you care about them.”

Police arrested the 15-year-old boy and the 16-year-old girl who were involved in the parking deck killing and charged them with murder. They are currently in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

“Our young people don’t value life,” Sanders said. “They think if they got shot they are gonna fall down and they are going to get back up. It don’t work like that.”

Creighton is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. He, like the two juveniles, has been charged with murder.
