Rock Hill teachers receive classroom makeovers before school year begins

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Several teachers in Rock Hill will start the school year with a brand new look.

The district rewarded some teachers with a classroom makeover and they got a first look on Monday afternoon.

The makeovers included new paint, flooring, and furniture.

“When they come into a classroom that they feel is a home environment for them and is a safe place for them then they are really excited to come and learn with their friends every day,” teacher Carly Varnadore said.

More than 120 students, parents and alumni sent in nominations for the teachers to receive the makeovers at Mt. Gallant Elementary, Saluda Trial Middle School, and Northwestern High School.

The makeovers were made possible by donations.

More than $170,000 in renovations were donated from:

• VS America
• WB Manufacturing
• Fomcore
• Allied USA
• Wood Designs Early Learning
• Britton Flooring

The Rock Hill Schools Education Foundation also awarded each teacher with a $100 Visa gift card.
