RALEIGH — Salisbury resident Cristien Breton has hit a second stroke of lottery luck, winning a $100,000 prize on a scratch-off ticket after previously winning $2 million in August 2024, officials with the N.C. Education Lottery said.
Breton bought his lucky Cash Payday ticket at the Food Lion on Mahaley Avenue in Salisbury. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Friday, taking home $72,018 after required state and federal tax withholdings.
His latest win follows a $2 million prize from a Platinum scratch-off ticket in August 2024. Upon realizing he had won again, Breton expressed surprise at his fortune.
“I could not believe it happened again,” Breton said. “I’ve been very lucky.”
Breton already has plans for his new winnings. After using his previous jackpot to help his family, he said he wants to direct his latest payout toward local youth.
“I took care of my mom the last time and this time I want to help take care of the community,” Breton said. “I want to help underprivileged kids who are going back to school.”
Breton said the second win brought a strong sense of gratitude. “It feels awesome,” Breton said. “I am definitely blessed.”
The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 top prizes of $100,000. A total of 56 top prizes remain to be claimed.
