Troopers: 4 hurt in fiery head-on crash involving school bus in Cabarrus County

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A fiery head-on crash involving a school bus and a car sent four people to a hospital Wednesday afternoon in Cabarrus County, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Channel 9 viewers sent photos of the fiery crash that showed the entire sedan and front end of the school bus engulfed in flames.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over Lower Rocky River and Morrison roads where first responders were investigating the charred vehicles.

A Nissan was making a right turn from Lower Rocky River onto Morrison Road and drove left of the center line, colliding head-on with school bus, troopers said.

Everyone was able to escape before the fire ignited.

Three people in the Nissan and the driver of the bus were taken to Atrium Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

No further information has been released.
