Scientists say hurricanes getting stronger, more destructive

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tropical Storm Beta made landfall late Monday just north of Port O’Connor, Texas and will bring rain to our area Friday.

Nine storms have made landfall in the United States this year, and scientists say hurricanes are getting stronger and intensifying more rapidly than even just 40 years ago.
