Self-pour craft-beer concept OpenTap makes south Charlotte debut

CHARLOTTE — Scott and Brooke Thorne say the earliest plans for their new business concept were made on a napkin. Now, four years later, OpenTap is opening its doors in south Charlotte.

The self-pour craft-beer concept opened Friday at 5010 Carmel Center Drive. It features 64 taps, 40 of which are dedicated to craft beer that Scott Thorne said is carefully curated through their own discovery of new beers and brewers, both locally and nationally. The remaining 24 taps are dedicated to wine, non-alcoholic beers, kombucha and craft sodas.

The duo is bringing in some of Charlotte’s most well-known brands, as well as some of their personal favorites that they want to share with the community, he said.
