GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County leaders approved incentives last night for a large project that could locate there.

The company considering making that investment is now known, according to what multiple sources have told the Charlotte Business Journal.

Those sources told CBJ that Silfab Solar, a manufacturer with locations in Canada and Washington state, is the company behind Project Borealis.

County documents show Project Borealis would locate at Gateway85, NorthPoint Development’s 365-acre industrial park between Gastonia and Lowell.

The project calls for a $159 million investment and the creation of 675 jobs.
