GASTONIA, N.C. — A 19-year-old has been charged following the stabbing of his father inside of their home in Gastonia, police said.
Police said they received reports about a possible stabbing Thursday morning on N. York Street.
When they arrived at the home, officers said they found a man who had been stabbed multiple times.
The victim was then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
At the scene, police were told the suspect was still inside of the home where the stabbing took place.
Officers said they attempted to negotiate with the suspect, later identified as Carrington Boyd, but he refused to respond.
Shortly before 12 p.m., SWAT officers forcefully entered the home and arrested Boyd.
Boyd has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He is being held at the Gaston County Jail where he is being held without bond.
