Starbucks shutters two Charlotte stores as part of 250-location closure wave

CHARLOTTE — Two Starbucks stores in Charlotte will close Saturday as part of a larger effort to shutter 250 locations across North America.

According to the Charlotte Business Journal, locations in Fourth Ward, at 800 W. Trade St. in the Gateway Village development, and in the University area, at 9335 N. Tryon St. in the Mallard Pointe shopping center, will permanently close on Sept. 26.

Starbucks’ website shows the Gateway Village location will close at 5 p.m., while the Mallard Pointe store is closing at 6 p.m.

The closures were confirmed by employees at the stores.
