Street race honoring Earnhardt family held in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Legends Car race took over the streets of Kannapolis on Thursday to pay tribute to one of the city’s most famous families.

Old Armor Beer Company and US Legends Cars teamed up with Kerry Earnhardt, former NASCAR driver and eldest son of seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Dale Earnhardt, to host the Earnhardt Outdoors Showdown, which was celebrated on May 25.

Drivers who participated in the street race included Kevin Harvick, Noah Gragson, Austin Hill, and Stefan Parsons. Earnhardt served as the Grand Marshal and other members of the Earnhardt family attended.

There was pre-race entertainment and a parade of cars led by Earnhardt in an original “Intimidator” car that both he and his late father drove. All the racers followed behind in their respective Legends Car.

The event was held on North Research Campus Drive.
