RALEIGH, N.C. — The National Weather Service will investigate whether five tornadoes hit central North Carolina as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias pushed through the state this weekend.

COVERING HURRICANE ISAIAS:

In Raleigh, video shows toppled trees covering yards and sidewalks after the storm swept through Sunday morning.

The storm also damaged cars in Fayetteville. Channel 9 obtained video from outside a Sam’s Club parking lot that shows a nearly overturned car and others crashed into each other.

Pictures from the town of Candor, just east of Albemarle, shows the damage a possible tornado caused. This came after tornado warnings were issued for that area and Anson County Sunday morning.

According to reports from ABC affiliate WXLV, the NWS said they could not confirm a tornado just yet, but survey teams are set to investigate Monday.

The North Carolina Red Cross says more than 40 disaster workers are on the ground working to help impacted communities. The Red Cross said it is welcoming volunteers and donations.
