SWAT situation ends peacefully in Huntersville; no injuries, police say

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — SWAT responded a man barricaded in a home Wednesday night in Huntersville, police said. The incident started at about 6 p.m.

The situation ended peacefully at about 11 p.m. and no one was hurt. The suspect, 40-year-old Ryan Luppold, was placed in an ambulance and expected to be evaluated at an area hospital.

Luppold, who lives at the home in the Plum Creek neighborhood on Old Statesville Road, has outstanding felony warrants, Huntersville police said. He was arrested inside the home without incident.

There was no threat to the community.

According to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office records, Luppold was arrested several times in 2022.
