SWAT team responds after west Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE — According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers were called to the 4300 block of Hovis Road Saturday morning for an assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic.

The victim has been identified as Darien Marquis Hoskins, 28.

Reporter Tina Terry was on the scene Saturday afternoon and watched as the CMPD SWAT team prepared to enter a house on Hovis Road.

Police told her Hoskins and the suspect knew each other and had gotten into an argument earlier Saturday.

Hoskins left, went home and came back about an hour later. Police said that's when the shooting happened.

The car Hoskins was driving was on an incline. Police are trying to determine how that happened.

Police confirmed several other homes were shot into during the shooting, but no one was hurt.
