CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dating violence among teens is a nationwide problem, but Mecklenburg County teenagers hope an open discussion could help end it.

Teens met for a symposium at Revolutionary Park Sports Academy on Remount Road to learn about dating abuse.

The session taught teens how to catch signs of abuse that aren't obvious.

It wasn’t just a lecture. It allowed teens the chance to get involved.

“It’s good that they can all share their opinions with each other and come to a conclusion about what is too much jealousy, what is too extreme, what does control in a relationship look like,” said Alex Pyun, violence prevention manager for community support services.

This was the second year for the event.
